An Open Letter to Jenna Kutcher on Choosing Peace and Why It Matters for All of Us
When success gets too loud, sometimes peace whispers back.
Lately, it feels like more and more of us are craving something quieter and more raw, more real, not another performance, just room to breathe and room to be. So when Jenna Kutcher shared her heart in her podcast episode “The Wins You Don’t See: Choosing Peace Over Performative Success,” it landed like a warm light for those navigating burnout, boundary fatigue, or the pressure to constantly show up polished and productive.
This isn’t just a letter to Jenna. It’s a note to every kind human who’s been holding it all together and wondering, What if there’s another way?
Dear Jenna,
I just finished your episode “The Wins You Don’t See” and it was inspiring. It was like a deep exhale for all the women out there trying to juggle it all. You put words to something so many of us feel but rarely say out loud: that peace isn’t always loud or shiny, but it’s sacred. And choosing it? That’s a quiet revolution.
What moved me most was the way you described the simple things: watering plants, collecting eggs, being present with your babies. I have the best news for you girl, there is a whole branch of psychology dedicated to this aspect and it’s called Positive Psychology. What you are specifically resonating with is one of 24 defined character vitues called “Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence.” It’s one of several character strengths that has been scientifically proven to drive decision making and purpose. This one shows up in people who find meaning in the little things.
I LOVE that you published this podcast when you did and already are recognizing those rhythms matter. There is a whole field of science out here backing you up. And many of us are working every day to bring the findings of Positive Psychology to more people who are done with the burnout cycle and ready for something better.
And here’s the cool part: in seasons like this, where life is beautiful but busy, aligning your goals with your character strengths isn’t just helpful, it’s essential and grounding. It brings clarity and joy. And, it helps you say no without guilt and yes with more intention. Know that it may not be productive in the traditional work form it’s significantly productive in your life purpose.
If you haven’t already, I’d love to invite you to take the VIA Character Strengths Survey that I’ve linked below. It’s free, science-backed, and wildly affirming. Not because it tells you what to change, but because it shows you the strengths that are already important to you, like the way you cherish beauty, notice what’s good, and create space for others to do the same. You’ll also see what other strengths you have which may help you fully prioritize the things that make you thrive.
This very survey is the one that put me on the path to develop Kindvibe and fully take advantage of my strengths.
You choosing peace is a win and I hope it allows you to fully flourish as you! Happy mother’s day, momma!
With so much love and respect,
Dee Fairweather
